Tourism department is promoting Srinagar-Yousmarg-Doodhganga-Doodh-e-Pathri for pilgrimage and adventure tourism circuit as the revered shrine of Sheikh-ul-Aalam (RA) at Chrar-e-Sharief and Syed Ali Aali Balkhi (RA) at Pakharpora fall en-route Yousmarg.

Yousmarg (47km from Srinagar)

Yousmarg, 13 km from Chrar-e-Sharief town, is a major tourist destination in Kashmir Valley. It has beautiful meadow and a lake surrounded by forest and snow-clad mountains. Yousmarg mesmerizes tourists with its scenic meadows, a sparkling reservoir and mountains. Yousmarg is also a trekker’s paradise. From this place one can walk and trek to Doodganga, Sang Safed Mountain, Nilnag, Dragdolan, Bargah maidan.

For promoting of adventure tourism activities, Zorb Ball, Rock Climbing and Trekking are being introduced in the area.

Trekking

Yousmarg offers thrilling trekking routes. Stay in personal tents is recommended for the visitors intending to stay for longer duration. The expeditions to the various peaks in the range can be organized through the reputed Travel Agents in Srinagar.

From Yousmarg, one can trek to Nilnag Lake, which is surrounded by tall pine trees. Also one can trek or take a pony ride to Doodh Ganga about an hour from Yousmarg.

Chrar-e-Sharief can be visited on the way to Yousmarg. This is the shrine of famous Kashmiri saint Nund Reshi (1440AD).

Where to stay

The tourism department and the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation have its huts for visitors. The kiosks, cafeterias have also been developed by the Yousmarg Development Authority for the convenience of the tourists. A tourist information centre is functional at the main bowl. The trekkers are advised to carry tents and other necessary food items for the stay.

Local buses ply only upto Chrar-e-Sharief, tourists are advised to hire a taxi from Srinagar or take the assistance of a travel agent. The road from Chrar-e-Sharief to Yousmarg remains closed during the winters.

JKTDC Restaurant near the Cottages offers all type of continental and Indian food for the visitors at economical price. The local Dhabas provide snacks and quick meals during the daytime.
