Kashmir is rightly called the Paradise on Earth. God has been most generous while bestowing this Valley with natural beauty. The Valley is host to beautiful mountains and lakes, springs and rivers, conifers on snow capped mountains and Chinars on plans while the aroma of the flowers in different gardens makes the visits to this place memorable. South Kashmir which is the most beautiful part of the Valley has the highest number of picnic spots. Anantnag is a host to countless springs and boasts of Mughals Gardens and the most popular tourist places like Pahalgam, Achabal, Kokernag, Deksum, Sinthan Pass and Verinag.

The tourism department is promoting Achabal, Kokernag, Deksum and Sinthan Pass as one of the tourism circuits in South Kashmir for a two day one night package.

After moving from Mughal Gardens of Achabal and Kokernag, you will come across the picturesque Daksum.

Deksum (90 km from Srinagar) situated en-route Kistwar presents an awe-inspiring sight. At an altitude of 2,438 metres in a densely forested gorge, Daksum offers peace and tranquility amidst the magnificent grandeur of springs. One can only listen to the gurgling brooks flowing through lush coniferous trees. Deksum serves host to wildlife sanctuary, sheep farm and dense forest and is a good camping site.

The projects have been undertaken by the Kokernag Development Authority (KDA) including the development of a Public Park at Dandipora, Club Park and Hill View Park to facilitate the tourists.

Tourism department has developed huts at Deksum for tourist accommodation.

 Hazrat Sheik Baba Dawood Khaki shrine

Ahead of Deksum one can see shrines of Sufi saint Hazrat Sheik Baba Dawood Khaki at Vyul Village (11 km from Kokernag). The shrine is on a hillock where religious festival is organized for several days starting from June 12. The village wears a festive look during these days.
