Pahalgam is 45 km from District Anantnag in the south Kashmir and 95km from Srinagar. This resort is the most beautiful tourist place of the country due to its breathtaking views. The snowcapped mountains rise behind the lofty conifers.

From Pahalgam the tourists can visit Aru village which is 12 kilometers away from Pahalgam buss stand. The drive to Aru is also awesome which takes the visitors through narrow metallic road overlooking gushing streams, small meadows, villages and conifers.

Centuries old shrine of Sufi saint Baba Zaina-ud-din Wali fall on the hillock on the way to Pahalgam 10 kilometers short of pahalgam and 86 km from Srinagar.
The Sufi was a follower of the most popular Sufi saint of the country ‘Shiekh-Noor-ud-Din’.
In about 15th century, Baba Zaina-ud-Din Wali belonged to Hindu family fron Kishtawar(Doda). His name was Zia Singh. He suffered from a desease that could not be cured by any doctor of the time. When he approached the famous saint Shaikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani, his desease cured. There after Zia Singh became Shiekhs disciple and he accepted Islam.
One week long Illumination (Zool) festival is celebrated in the month of April in respect of the Shiekh Zaina-ud-din Wali in a peculiar way of holding torchlights “leshi” in a procession, which start in the shrine, are displayed to the public for seeking blessings.
5 km away from Anantnag, the centuries old temple is located in the Mattan which is populated by Kashmiri Pannits. The temple is also locally called ‘Maech Bawan’ (Maech means fish and Bawan means place to live). Near Martand temple there are three springs, Kamal, Vimal and Gouri springs in the premises of temples where the fish live. The springs give out blue water and the fish in them give a pleasing experience to the visitors. There are other two temples near Martand Temple.
